Revenue Sharing
I wonder why Major League Baseball does not impose requirements on small market teams when it comes to revenue sharing. I am talking about teams like Kansas City, and Minnesota. They are getting money every year from the likes of Boston, and New York. The thing is those small market owners never invest that money into their payroll. I know there has not been a repeat champion since the Yankees won three in a row, but for the most part the same teams make the playoffs every year. I think if small market teams had to take their revenue sharing money and put it back into their payroll. The regular season would be more exciting. Just maybe different teams would make the playoffs as well.
The small market teams are putting money into their clubs though. The Royals gave $55 million to Gil Meche, the Marlins just signed Ramirez to a $70 million deal, and the Twins went out and spent on Livan Hernandez. Just because a team doesn't spend $150 million doesn't mean that they aren't signing quality players to their ball club. And dollars don't always equate to wins, as the Mets found out the hard way last year. Welcome to the blog community!!!! Check out mine by searching 'Marlins Musings' on the home page. p.s. Good luck against the Yankees this weekend!
